Clayface Interview with Tom Rhys Harries and James Watkins

Most movies based on comic books tend to lean in the direction of action, fantasy, adventure and thriller. The DCU’s latest entry Clayface may very well be the first horror film not just in the DC franchise but in the overall sphere of these movies.

Star Tom Rhys Harries and director James Watkins stopped by the 102.1 The Edge studios in Toronto to talk with morning show Tucker and Maura about the bold risks the movie takes.

Watkins spoke about the freedom he was allowed when creating the grotesque transformations that Rhys Harries endures in the movie, citing the approval of DCU architect James Gunn. He also mentioned the amount of practical effects used to get the vibe of the movie right and make it feel more grounded.

That grounded feel is what contributes to the big scares, with Tucker noting that this is absolutely a movie to see in theatres so you can see the reactions of your friends.

Clayface opens October 23rd.
