2 charged in London's largest fentanyl seizure to date, police say

Two people are facing several drug charges after London police seized more than $50,000 worth of drugs from an Exeter Road hotel room Wednesday, including $25,000 worth of powdered fentanyl.

In a statement Thursday, police said it was the force’s largest seizure of fentanyl to date. Police said the bust took place around 5 p.m. at the unspecified hotel.

In addition, police said they also seized $19,200 worth of crystal methamphetamine, $4,400 worth of cocaine, and $1,500 worth of hydromorphone capsules. Some $13,000 in Canadian cash and 50 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition were also seized from the room, police said.

A 31-year-old London man and a 31-year-old St. Thomas woman have been charged in connection with the case. Both are jointly charged with drug trafficking offences, police said.

The London man faces an additional count of possessing ammunition while prohibited.

Both were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
