Vampire Weekend announces tour, 3 Canadian dates

Vampire Weekend revealed its plans for an extensive North American tour on Wednesday. The news broke via Twitter, where the American rockers announced the massive 34-date trek in promotion of their upcoming fourth studio album, Father of the Bride.

Founding members Ezra Koenig, Chris Tomson and Chris Baio will bring the newly revamped seven-piece lineup of Vampire Weekend to Canada for three exclusive shows. The tour will commence on June 5 in Toronto, before hitting Montreal and Vancouver.

The Father of the Bride tour will conclude in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 8.

Although the release date for the new record has not been set, Koenig, 34, hinted earlier this month that it will drop sometime in March or April.

It’s been nearly six years since Vampire Weekend released Modern Vampires of the City (2013). That was the last time we heard from the band.

2021 and Harmony Hall, dropped last Thursday. They serve as the first two singles from the long-awaited record.

In an Instagram post, Koenig promised that an additional four singles will be released before the album’s release — two each month.

He further revealed the initials for said songs. In February, we will hear “S” and “BB.” March offers “TL” and “UW.”

For now, it seems that fans have some new material to sink their teeth into.
