Let’s face it: siblings can be a pain in the ass. Just because you’re related to someone doesn’t mean you’re going to get along. Not everyone can be Venus and Serena Williams, you know?
Ann Landers and Dear Abbey were real people: sisters Eppie and Pauline Lederer. Despite having newspaper columns famous for dishing out all sorts of relationship advice, they didn’t apply that wisdom to themselves. They spent their entire lives antagonizing each other.
Then we have the case of Rudolph and Adolf Dassler. In the 1930s, they were good young Nazis who owned a shoe company. But when Rudolf proved to be a little more into National Socialism than Adolf felt comfortable with, their company split in two. One became Adidas and the other Puma.
There are plenty of family feuds in show business. Olivia De Havilland and Joan Fontaine at an ugly relationship that was legendary. In music, we have Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks. The weirdness that is the Jackson family. And it hasn’t always been chocolates and unicorns for all the guys in Kings of Leon.
But the champion brawlers have to be Liam and Noel Gallager. We’ve all heard of their fractious and sometimes violent relationship, but are you aware of the true scope of this war? When it comes to dysfunctional brotherly relationships, it doesn’t get more intense than this.
