A local family is asking anyone with information to step forward regarding this tragic moment from Sunday, July 21…
“My son Tristan was going fishing with his friend on Sunday night, July 21, 2019 when he was struck by a vehicle going 80+ km/hour. He was sent into the air 30+ feet and landed. Luckily his friend was not hurt and called emergency services. The car fled from the scene with his bicycle wedged underneath for two blocks before stopping at a motel and running.
The passenger was apprehended by citizens but the driver evaded capture and is still missing. Tristan sustained a compound fracture of his left leg where he was struck. He suffered two bruised lungs and has been on a ventilator since he was rescued from the roadside. He also suffered multiple abrasions and contusions. He may also have injured kidneys. His jaw is also broken in two places and had to be temporarily wired to keep from moving. The most serious injury was to his brain. Tristan suffered a severe and traumatic brain injury.
The prognosis at the moment it dire and bleak but once he wakes up the real work will begin. I am a single mom with two children one of which is Tristan and a daughter. I need to focus on Tristan’s rehabilitation and there will be lawyer costs and other rehabilitation and assistance equipment. I’ve never done anything like this for myself but I am pleading for some help for my son.”
