Every once in a while a listener will tip me off to something that has for some reason slipped through the cracks for me. This time, it’s listener John who pointed me to Men I Trust, a trio from Montreal that I’ve somehow missed since they were formed in 2014. They may not be new to some but they’re certainly new to me.
This track isn’t that new, either. It was a non-album single from last year–one of many they’ve released in addition to four studio albums, one live album, and a couple of EPs. (Man, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!)
Singer Emmanuelle Proulx has a beguilingly breathy way of delivering this song which, when you hear it, sounds like it was constructed with bits from an old New Order track. The guitar figure will go through your head for the rest of the day, especially if you stare at the video. Very krautrock/motorik!
